China's one-child program is going to be its downfall, with too few young people in the pipeline to produce for its expanding geriatric cohort. Experts predict the nation's population could fall by 40% by 2050 and within 10+ years a third of its population will be over 65 years of age. Ouch.
This wasn't always the case. During the period from 1950-1990, their population growth was on a tear. Looks like they overcorrected a little.
India's population is also tapering off, but is still expected to grow over time (albeit at a slow rate).
