If you want to throw up, click the link below and read Tesla's 2022 impact report. There is a cornucopia of fallacious claims, many presented in beautiful technicolor splattered across page after page of manufactured garbage.
BTW: Not saying that Tesla's are bad cars. They are fun to drive, easy to maintain and save you from spending money at the pump. All good. If Musk stopped there I'd be fine. But he goes on to stretch the truth...a long long way.
My two favorite themes of his are:
I: Tesla is leading the green revolution and their cars are somehow helping the environment at least compared to conventional cars. That not really true. Teslas have a larger carbon footprint to manufacture (due to the gargantuan batteries inside) requiring you to operate the vehicle for 3-5 years to reach carbon break even.
These vehicles weigh about 1,000 more than hybrid vehicles and therefore can be more lethal in auto accidents (more inertial momentum).
So no, if you want to save the environment buy a plug-in hybrid. These bad boys run every day (for most drivers) "all-electric" and don't pollute more to build than a conventional car (much smaller battery).
II: But there's another doozy in his report, which he carps on for page after page. You see that Tesla has hired 67% of its workforce from underrepresented groups. You know "minorities". BTW...Elon classifies Asians as minorities in his report. That's how he juices his numbers. Sorry, wrong word, I meant "fabricates".
BTW: I had to throw on additional thing in. Why is our government giving out $7,500 tax credits ($11,000 pretax) to wealthy people to drive something that's no more environmentally friendly than a conventional car and arguably less friendly than a plug-in hybrid? To help Musk?
